Jacob’s father James Caan succumbed to a heart attack at the age of eighty-two, due to coronary artery disease, also called coronary heart disease. This is when plaque builds up in the blood vessels that deliver oxygen to the heart, making them narrow or blocked.

In the later stages of his life, he was plagued with chronic obstructive lung disease and congestive heart failure. These conditions ultimately led to his death. He passed away the following day, on July 6th, 2022, at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
